John Okoro is a global clean energy leader, entrepreneur, and driving force behind Africa’s energy transformation. With over a decade of experience across 30+ countries and four continents, he has helped build and scale renewable energy markets across Sub-Saharan Africa, turning complex challenges into viable investment opportunities.
John’s career includes senior roles with international energy companies Vergnet SA and CMR Group, where he helped pioneer medium- and large-scale clean energy projects and served as Commercial Director for Africa, leading cross-border teams and opening new markets.
He is currently the MD and Co-Founder of Growth Energy, a clean energy company with offices in France and operations across Kenya, Nigeria, Burundi, and Zanzibar. Growth Energy delivers renewable energy solutions for industry, cities, and electric mobility, scaling across Africa.
Beyond business, John co-founded Friends of Nigeria (FON) and is a speaker on energy transition, leadership, and Africa’s role in the green economy.
